The most common fitness goals are simple. They are slightly different between women and men. Let’s have a look at the 7 key reasons why people like to exercise:

Since the fitness culture established in the ’80, the goals have stayed the same. Even though there are many more classes and workouts on the market than 30 years back. Some make a difference, others are for entertainment purposes and filling new market niches. In my exploration of this topic, I was surprised by the most popular fitness activities in the English speaking countries. They are nearly the same for 20 years, despite all the new inventions. The first five are definitely classics.
Yoga and Pilates are no new inventions but made it into the mainstream fitness culture. Which is a major achievement. Then we have some newer training activities like calisthenics and elliptical workout which have gained enormous popularity.

With all these activities you can meet the goals mentioned above. Some activities need to be mixed with other training types, to have the best results, others achieve optimal results on their own.
What is the best strategy to plan your holistic workout?
Write down the goals you want to achieve. Choose an exercise regime that matches your goals and which you really enjoy. Check if it fits into your daily routine. Try to do at least 3 different workouts the week. to aim at the different systems of your body.
