Ganesha gets excited

Mango lassi at it’s best

When I lived in India, the gods were with me. You can find them in every corner and also at my house. Not just the gods, all kinds of tropical fruits as well. The juicy, delicate, and mostly yellow fruits, like mango, banana, pineapple, and papaya. I love them, all of them. And Ganesha, the elephant god which watches over my house, loves them too.

He sits in my kitchen on my kitchen shelf and looks straight into the fruit bowl, smiling happily and radiating abundance and dreaming of a beautiful mango lassi at its best.

Lassi is wonderful refreshing

Many Indians enjoy a lassi when the summer heat is sitting over the country. It is simply made from yogurt and can be mixed with all kinds of fruits and is preferably served cold. It is still mango season in India, though the look and taste of the fruit are changing throughout the season.

Now they are not as orange anymore, the color changed to a greenish-yellow and the taste is not as sweet, but wonderfully refreshing. I chose this goddess of all fruits to mix with the yogurt and made enough for 2 serves. One for me and one for the elephant god Ganesha sitting on my kitchen shelf.

For 2 glasses, you will need

  • 400g natural yogurt
  • 1 large mango
  • 1 small banana

Put all ingredients in a blender and mix and it tastes even better if it is cold. Before you drink, do greet Ganesha, the god of happiness in the house.
