Mostly I drink my smoothie before my workout to get energy and feel refreshed and ready to go. This time I liked to try a smoothie for recovery, with valuable proteins and vitamins that your muscles need after an intense movement. So I prepared the smoothie before I left for my workout and had just an orange juice which was fine.
The preparation was quick and easy, the ingredients I have mostly in the house. Bananas of course, which make nearly every smoothie more tasteful and soft and they are also great for muscle recovery.
Mixed frozen berries are always in my fridge and they seem to work wonder on the body with respect to high blood sugar. To give the smoothie the protein which the body needs after a workout, I added one teaspoon spirulina (packed with protein) and coconut milk – you can also use almond milk.
When I came back from my exercise, the smoothie was waiting for me in the fridge and after drinking it, it gave me a really good and nutritious feeling.

For 2 glasses you will need:
- 2 medium-sized bananas
- 200 gr. mixed frozen berries
- Coconut or almond milk
- 1 teaspoon spirulina (optional)
Put the two bananas in a blender, add the spirulina and the mixed berries.
